Kopine is a business unit of New Zealand Panels Group and has been New Zealand’s leading manufacturer of particleboard since 1990.
Best known for its range of high quality particleboard flooring – Kopine Ultralock and Kopine Tongue & Groove, the company also provides a large quantity of particleboard used in melamine panels by NZ Panels’ Groups decorative surfaces brands – Bestwood and Prime Panels.
All raw material for the particleboard is untreated radiata pine sourced from local saw mills who buy their logs from sustainable forests. Manufacturing particleboard presents us with the opportunity to turn a sawmilling by-product into a strong, quality product with a wide range of uses within the building industry.
Kopine is consistently looking for ways to improve manufacturing practices with a view to decreasing its environmental impact. A large portion of the energy consumed during the manufacturing of particleboard is generated by burning the dust created during the sanding process.
The company recycles its cardboard, paper and plastic and provides local farmers with waste wood chip for animal wintering pads, and donates wood chips to local schools and playcentres for playgrounds.
We are continually working with our Resin supplier to reduce formaldehyde levels and are certified with an E1 rating.
Kopine Medium Density and High Density products are Eco Choice certified.
